life as usual. same as last year

The same fear is back,

The same hope surfaces

our battle with life continues

life is as usual, same as last year.

The trees bore the fruit,

the flowers did bloom,

they never knew the passing of the year

they never did care.

School kids are trotting off

being led by the worried mothers

their futures are still not decided

their pasts are not yet forgotten.

offices are bustling with activity,

their goals have become sterner,

unreachable is the only constant chant

among the same gathering around the water cooler.

The bridge between years

Was just a two days fun

It was a need to meet and greet

And I guess, we are done.

We still await, love, success, 

money, acheivements and miracles

we still crave for life's sweet things

we still crave for life without bad taste.

Are we going to change our paths,

Steer away from success and  money

Look away from the assorted temptations

Take a step back in greed

Give away love, uninhibited

Give our soul, a chance to grow

Will we forgive, in its true sense

Then its a New Year , my dears, 

till then , Life is as usual

Same as last year
